NomadSplit is a bill-splitting app. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. We've kept this as plain as possible — no legalese.
What we collect
- Account info — your email address, display name, and optionally a profile photo or emoji avatar.
- Group & expense data — groups you create or join, the expenses and settlements you log, and how amounts are split among members.
- Receipt images — photos you upload to scan a receipt. These are sent to OpenAI's API to extract line items (see Third-party services below). We store the image temporarily while a splitting session is active, then delete it.
How we use your data
Your data is used exclusively to run NomadSplit — to let you create groups, log expenses, split bills with friends, and settle up. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone outside of the services listed below.
Third-party services
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. Your account details, groups, and expenses are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.
- OpenAI — when you scan a receipt, the image is sent to OpenAI's API to read the line items. OpenAI's API usage policy states that data submitted via the API is not used to train their models.
- Exchange rate API — we fetch live currency exchange rates to convert expenses between currencies. No personal data is shared in this request.
Data retention
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. Receipt images are deleted once a splitting session is closed. If you want all your data removed, contact us and we'll delete your account and associated data.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete your account entirely. Just reach out via the contact details below.
